For the second meeting of our Wilton Decorating Basics class, Mom and I (along with all other students) were to complete a cake that would be decorated using our handmade buttercream icing, borders and a decorator design that we would transfer to the cake from a pre-made picture or pattern.
Two pattern options were available to us for this class. One was a fish pattern and the other was a cupcake pattern. Mom chose the fish pattern and I chose the cupcake. I didn’t care for either pattern but nobody consulted with me prior to putting these in the class book…
Again, Mom baked the cakes and made the buttercream for us. We each decorated a single layer cake that we iced as a part of the class activities.
We all know that Mom bakes cakes to give them away. She choose to give this cake to her great granddaughter Aziyah. After letting Aziyah’s mom (Eboni) know this, they came over to my house after the class to pick up their handmade creation.
We were half expecting Aziyah to yell “cracker” when we asked her what was on the cake. We did hear from her that what was on the cake was “Fish!”.
We heard back from Aziyah, Eboni and Jay that the cake was good. That’s always brings a good feeling to Mom to know that her food preparations were enjoyed.
Wondering what happened to my cake? It also was good! All that I didn’t eat was cut and put in the freezer for later.
